The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro is for people who want to set up a robot and largely forget it for a month. Its base empties debris into a bin that holds 60 days of dirt, refills the robot's water tank for up to 30 days and washes and dries the mopping pad after every clean. Add NeverStuck, which lets the robot lift itself over obstacles and thresholds, and the aim is fewer rescues and fewer chores.

In its favour

  • Base empties debris into a 60-day bin and refills the water tank for up to 30 days.
  • DirtDetect spots areas with more debris and boosts vacuuming, handy near pet beds and bowls.
  • NeverStuck lifts the robot over obstacles and thresholds, and the pad is kept above carpet when mopping.

Good to know

  • Neither a suction figure nor an anti-tangle brush is mentioned in the listing.
  • The spec lists 120 V and a 12 oz cleaner bottle, so confirm UK plug and support before buying.

Our take

Five PowerDetect features

Shark groups its sensing under five PowerDetect technologies. DirtDetect finds areas with more debris and increases vacuuming power there, and the robot takes extra mopping passes over stained areas. EdgeDetect blasts air to push dirt from edges into the cleaning path, and while mopping it extends the pad up to an inch for edge-to-edge coverage.

The remaining features adjust cleaning for each floor type, according to the listing.

NeverStuck and carpets

NeverStuck lets the robot raise itself over obstacles and across thresholds, and Shark claims up to twice the cleaning coverage of its older ION robots. When mopping, the robot keeps the pad above carpet, so rugs stay dry while hard floors are wiped. The listing does not give a lift or climb height in millimetres.

What is missing

Shark does not publish a suction figure in Pa and does not mention an anti-tangle brush, two details pet owners usually look for. The highlight list names 360° LiDAR plus a 3D sensor for navigation. Battery life is listed at 120 minutes.

The spec table shows 120 V and a 12 oz starter bottle of multi-surface cleaner, which points to a North American unit, so confirm the UK plug and support. The box also includes two side brushes and an odour neutraliser assembly.

Against pet-focused rivals

The Roomba Max 705 Combo states 75 days of auto-emptying and recognises pet waste. The Dreame D30 Ultra quotes 25,000 Pa and a floating rubber brush for detangling. The Shark's case rests on its base taking over refilling and pad care for weeks, plus its ability to climb.

Verdict

The PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro suits busy households that value a month without topping up water or touching the pad, and homes with thresholds that strand other robots. If tangled hair is your main problem, the Dreame D30 Ultra or eufy C28 Omni describe their brushes more clearly. If pet accidents are a concern, the Roomba Max 705 Combo is the safer pick.
