The Shark Navigator RV2120AE is a vacuum-only robot for people who want the bin emptied for them and never want to buy a dust bag. After each clean it empties into a bagless base that holds up to 60 days of debris. Add Shark's self-cleaning brushroll, designed to resist hair wrap, and it is aimed squarely at pet owners with carpets who want something simple that keeps going.

In its favour
- The bagless base holds up to 60 days of debris and needs no disposal bags.
- Self-cleaning brushroll is designed against hair wrap on carpets and hard floors.
- Detects and avoids objects in its path, and resumes cleaning after recharging.
Good to know
- Runtime is listed at 60 minutes, the shortest here, so larger homes may need a recharge mid-clean.
- There is no mopping function and no Pa figure, only a comparison against a rival.
Our take
Navigation and coverage
SmartPath navigation uses spot lidar to map the home and clean in rows, which Shark says gives up to 1.5 times more coverage than its older ION robots.
The robot also detects and avoids objects in its path and adapts to changes in the home, so you need not tidy every item before a run. The listing does not say which objects it recognises, so lift cables and socks if you can.
Suction and the brushroll
Shark does not give a Pa figure. Instead it claims up to 50% more suction than an unnamed competitor robot, which makes direct comparison hard. The self-cleaning brushroll digs into carpet and works directly on hardwood, and it is designed to pick up more hair without wrapping. For a home with a shedding dog, that is a useful detail.
Runtime and daily use
Battery life is listed at only 60 minutes, the shortest of any robot on this site. Recharge and resume helps, as the robot goes back to charge and then continues where it stopped, but a large house will take more than one session. Voice control and the app can start a whole-home, room or spot clean. The box contains the robot, the base and one side brush. There is no mop, and the listing shows both RV2100AE and RV2120AE model codes, so check which arrives.
Navigator against nearby choices
The Shark Matrix Plus AV2610WA adds sonic mopping, Matrix Clean grid passes, a HEPA base and 110 minutes of runtime. The Proscenic Q20Plus is also bagless for 90 days, mops and runs for 200 minutes. The Navigator is the simplest of the three.
Verdict
Pick the Navigator RV2120AE if you want a straightforward self-emptying vacuum with no bags to buy, in a small to medium home with pets and carpets. If you need a longer runtime or some mopping, the Proscenic Q20Plus does more for a bagless base. If you want Shark's grid cleaning and a mop, the Matrix Plus AV2610WA is the step up.
