The Roborock Q7 BF is a back-to-basics robot for people who want accurate lidar mapping and a light mop without a big station in the room. It charges on a compact base, empties by hand and wipes floors with a static module. If you are happy to tip out a small bin every few runs, it gives you Roborock's laser navigation in its simplest form, which is the reason it is worth considering at all.

In its favour

  • Lidar laser mapping lets you clean by room and set boundaries in the app, according to the listing.
  • Runs for up to 2.5 hours on its 3,200 mAh battery, enough for most flats in one pass.
  • The compact charging station takes up far less floor space than a self-emptying base.

Good to know

  • No suction figure appears anywhere on the listing, so you cannot compare it on power.
  • There is no self-emptying base and the dust box holds only 325 ml, so you empty it by hand.

Our take

A sparse listing

The Amazon listing for the Q7 BF is very short. It confirms a 3,200 mAh battery with up to 2.5 hours of running time, listed as 150 minutes in the spec table, a 0.325 litre dust container, scheduling, and an included charging station. No suction figure is given anywhere, so it cannot be compared on power with the Qrevo or Saros models.

What you get in the box

The included components are the robot, a compact charging station, a wiping module, a power cable and instructions. The specification table adds LiDAR navigation with precise laser mapping, a HEPA filter and simultaneous vacuuming and wiping.

Recommended surfaces are carpet and hard floor. Roborock offers a 2-year guarantee, according to the listing.

Living with a manual bin

Without a self-emptying base, the 325 ml dust box needs emptying by hand, often after each run in a home with pets. The wiping module is a static cloth rather than spinning pads, so it suits a light damp wipe of hard floors rather than scrubbing dried marks, and it will need rinsing yourself. The upside is space: a compact charger fits under a sideboard where a full dock would not.

Q7 BF against nearby options

The Xiaomi X20+ adds a station that empties dust and washes its rotating pads, with 6,000 Pa. The Dreame D9 Max is a similar lidar robot quoting 4,000 Pa and 150 minutes. Within Roborock's own range, the Qrevo 5AE adds a full washing dock and 12,000 Pa, so the Q7 BF is very much the entry point. Choosing it is mainly a decision about space and how much upkeep you are willing to do yourself.

Verdict

The Q7 BF suits small homes and tidy owners who want lidar mapping, a light wipe of hard floors and no bulky dock. If you want the bin emptied for you, the Dreame D20 Air Plus adds a 4 L bag base. If you want real scrubbing and a dock that washes the mops, the Xiaomi X20+ or Roborock Qrevo 5AE are better fits.
