Dreame L40 Ultra Gen2: DuoScrub pads for wood floors

Dreame recommends the L40 Ultra Gen2 for wood, marble and tile, and that tells you who it is for: homes with hard floors that want a robot to scrub rather than just damp-wipe them. The DuoScrub rotating pads and the extendable brush both reach outwards into corners and under kick boards. Strong suction rounds it off, so the robot is not a mop that vacuums weakly, but a balanced pair of tools with hard floors as the priority.

In its favour

  • Recommended surfaces are wood, marble and tile, so hard floors are the main brief for this model.
  • Brush and mop both extend to reach corners and under furniture, where boards collect dust lines.
  • Dock washes and hot-air dries the pads, and 10.5 mm lifting keeps rugs dry on mixed floors.

Good to know

  • The listing does not describe water-flow adjustment, a key setting for wooden floors.
  • Manufacturer contact details in the listing are for North America, so confirm UK support before buying.

Our take

Mopping with DuoScrub

The two rotating pads extend out from the body to reach corners and the edge under furniture, where dust lines tend to build up on boards. The dock washes the pads and dries them with hot air so they do not sour between runs. Dreame does not describe water-flow settings in the listing, which owners of oiled or lacquered wood may want to check in the app before the first run.

Carpet handling

There are four carpet modes: carpet avoidance, a suction boost, intensive carpet cleaning and mop lifting. The bullet points quote 0.41 inches of lift and the highlight list says 10.5 mm, both pointing to about a centimetre. That is enough for thin rugs, though the Ecovacs T50 Max Pro Omni lifts higher.

Suction is listed at 25,000 Pa with five levels, so you can turn it down on hard floors and up on rugs.

Navigation, battery and charging

Dreame names Smart Pathfinder and 3DAdapt as the systems that map the home and avoid obstacles such as shoes. The 5,200 mAh battery is quoted at up to 231 minutes in Quiet Mode, while the spec table lists 200 minutes. Dreame also says it charges 30% faster and supports off-peak charging. The manufacturer contact details in the listing are North American, and the spec sheet gives 110 V, so confirm the UK version and support.

Compared with nearby picks

The eufy Omni S1 Pro uses a self-rinsing roller rather than pads and gives no suction figure, so the Dreame is easier to judge on carpet. The Roborock Qrevo 5AE publishes 30 water levels and a 10 mm lift, giving more stated control over wetness on wood. The L40 Ultra Gen2 leads both on suction.

Verdict

The L40 Ultra Gen2 suits homes with mostly wood, stone or tile that also have a few rugs and want high suction from the same robot. If precise water control is your top concern, the Roborock Qrevo 5AE documents it better. If you prefer a roller that keeps rinsing itself, consider the eufy Omni S1 Pro instead.
