The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 takes most of the 5 Pro's hardware and leaves out the AI camera. You still get 20,000 Pa, a laser navigation module that drops down so the robot can slide under furniture as low as 9.5 cm, and a base that washes the mop in 80°C water. It is aimed at buyers who want a hot wash and low-furniture reach but do not need camera-based object recognition.

In its favour
- The Item Highlight lists 80°C hot water washing at the base station.
- Dual rotating scrapers clean the washboard while the mop is washed, so the tray needs less attention.
- Retractable dToF radar lets it get under furniture as low as 9.5 cm.
Good to know
- The listing does not mention mop drying.
- There is no AI camera, so obstacle recognition is less detailed than on the 5 Pro.
Our take
The retractable dToF radar
Most robot vacuums carry their laser turret on top, which sets a minimum height for anything they can get under. On the Xiaomi 5 the dToF module retracts when the robot detects a low gap, turning it into what Xiaomi calls an ultra-slim main unit. The Item Highlight puts the body at 8.8 cm, and the bullet says it fits under areas as low as 9.5 cm. In open rooms the module rises again for full scanning.
Base station and mop care
The all-in-one base collects dust and washes the mop pad with 80°C hot water, the hottest wash figure among the robots this site compares for hot water washing. It also has dual rotating scrapers that scrape and clean the washboard while the mop is washed, which should cut down on the grime that builds up in the tray of most washing docks.
The listing does not mention drying the mop after washing, nor the dust bag size or the number of days between emptying. If a dry mop at the end of every run matters to you, that is the main open question.
Edges, hair and suction
Both the side brush and the mop pad extend automatically as the robot follows walls, so it reaches skirting boards and corners with millimetre-level precision. Water output is controlled precisely from a separate tank on the robot, though the listing does not list the number of levels.
For hair, there is an anti-tangle side brush and a dual-blade main brush that trims hair as it cleans, a design Xiaomi says means less time spent cutting hair off by hand. Suction is 20,000 Pa, and the spec table gives 120 minutes of battery life.
Xiaomi 5, 5 Pro or X20 Pro
The Xiaomi 5 Pro adds an AI camera that recognises over 200 objects and an optional 5 MP camera for viewing the home, and it states automatic drying. The Xiaomi X20 Pro has far less suction at 7,000 Pa but lists hot-air drying and 160 minutes of runtime. The plain 5 sits between them, with flagship suction and washing but no camera.
Verdict
Choose the Xiaomi 5 if you want 80°C mop washing, 20,000 Pa and the ability to clean under low furniture, and you are happy without camera recognition. Step up to the Xiaomi 5 Pro for object avoidance and stated drying, or consider the Ecovacs Deebot T30C if you want hot washing with drying confirmed on the listing.
