**In short:** Choose Roborock if a slim robot matters most: the Saros 10 is listed at 8 cm and the Qrevo Curv has a chassis that lifts itself over thresholds. Choose Dreame if you have high door bars or thick rugs: the L50 Ultra lists 6 cm climbing and a 10.5 mm mop lift with removable pads, and the L40s Ultra lists 4 cm climbing and an auto-refilling, hot-rinsing dock.

Roborock and Dreame are often shortlisted together because they look so alike. Both build robots around lidar mapping, both put twin mops and extending arms on their upper models, and both sell tall docks that empty, rinse and dry. So the useful questions are practical ones. Will the mop stay dry on your rugs? Can the robot get over the bar between your hall and kitchen? Will it fit under the sofa? And what does the dock actually do for you? We answer each one using four Amazon UK listings.

## Two lidar-first makers, four robots

We have paired the **Roborock Saros 10** with the **Dreame L50 Ultra**, and the **Roborock Qrevo Curv** with the **Dreame L40s Ultra**. All four are all-in-one robots with self-emptying, mop-washing docks, so the differences come down to details rather than missing features.

Listings vary in how much they say. The Dreame listings are detailed, quoting climbing heights, mop lift and dock temperatures. The Roborock Qrevo Curv listing is brief and does not give a suction figure, so where a figure is missing the table says so. If one of those gaps matters to you, the maker's own product page is the place to check.

## The four listings at a glance

Box sizes and stray voltage entries are left out because they describe packaging or overseas versions. Suction figures are each maker's own measurement and are not a like-for-like test.

## Mop lifting: keeping rugs dry

A robot that mops and vacuums in one run has to deal with rugs. There are three common tactics: lift the mop a few millimetres, drop the mop off at the dock before vacuuming carpet, or simply avoid carpet while mopping. Dreame lists all three on the L50 Ultra, with a 10.5 mm lift, removable pads and a carpet avoidance mode, plus a mode that vacuums carpets twice. The L40s Ultra offers the same set of carpet choices without quoting a lift height.

Roborock's Saros 10 uses its VibraRise 4.0 system. Roborock's VibraRise naming refers to a mop that lifts when carpet is detected, but the listing does not give a height, so check the maker's spec page if you have deep pile. The Qrevo Curv listing does not detail its mop at all beyond the FlexiArm design.

As a rough rule, a lift of around 10 mm clears flat-weave and short-pile rugs, while long shaggy rugs are best handled by removing the pads or setting the rug as a no-mop zone in the app.

## Thresholds and door bars

This is where the Dreame listings make bold claims. The L50 Ultra's ProLeap system is listed for steps and door sills up to 6 cm, and the L40s Ultra's EasyLeap for up to about 4 cm. Roborock's Qrevo Curv lists an AdaptiLift chassis with automatic threshold passage but gives no height, and the Saros 10 listing does not mention climbing.

Climbing figures are best-case numbers on a clean, square edge. A rounded bar is easier than a sharp step, and a robot coming at an angle may struggle with less. Measure before you buy:

1. Find the highest door bar or step between rooms the robot must cross.
2. Measure from the floor on the lower side to the top of the bar, in millimetres.
3. Compare with the listed climb height and allow a few millimetres of margin.
4. If it is borderline, a small threshold ramp is a cheap fix.
5. Check the result with our [clearance check](https://dockandmop.co.uk/tools/clearance-check), which also covers furniture gaps.

## Height and low furniture

Of the four, only the Roborock Saros 10 states a robot height, at 8 cm, which is low enough for many sofas and beds that block a standard robot with a raised lidar turret. The two Dreame listings and the Qrevo Curv do not give a height. If under-furniture cleaning is a priority, look up the exact figure on the maker's site and include any turret in the measurement. Our page on [robot vacuum height and clearance](https://dockandmop.co.uk/blog/robot-vacuum-height-and-clearance) explains why carpet pile and castors can make a tight fit tighter.

## Dock jobs, side by side

Every dock here empties dust. The Dreame listings itemise more: both the L50 Ultra and L40s Ultra claim up to 100 days between dust empties, rinse the mops with hot water (the L40s Ultra quotes 75°C), dry them, and refill clean water and cleaning solution on their own. The L50 Ultra arrives with two dust bags, and the Saros 10 with one, so both use bags you will need to replace over time.

The Qrevo Curv's dock 3.0 is not itemised on its listing. If automatic detergent dosing or hot water washing matters to you, confirm it on Roborock's page for that model before buying. Our guide to [robot vacuum dust bags](https://dockandmop.co.uk/blog/robot-vacuum-dust-bags) covers what to stock up on.

Note: A dock that heats water and dries mops uses mains electricity. Plug it into a wall socket, keep the area dry, and send any battery or wiring fault to the maker's service or a qualified repairer rather than opening the robot.

## Frequently asked questions

**Is Roborock or Dreame better for thresholds?** On these listings Dreame makes the stronger claims, with up to 6 cm on the L50 Ultra and about 4 cm on the L40s Ultra. Roborock's Qrevo Curv has a lifting chassis but no stated height.

**Which is slimmer?** The Roborock Saros 10 is listed at 8 cm. The other three listings do not give a robot height, so check the maker's spec sheet before measuring your furniture.

**Do both brands use dust bags in the dock?** The Saros 10 and L50 Ultra both arrive with dust bags, so plan to replace them. Bag details for the Qrevo Curv and L40s Ultra dock should be checked on the maker's site, though the L40s Ultra box includes bags too.

**Can I use any floor cleaner in the dock?** Use the maker's own solution or one it approves. Other products can foam or leave residue in the tanks, and the manual for your model will say what is safe.
